Kosmiczne promieniowanie gamma – drugi film na kanale Nauka Inspiruje

The second video on the new YouTube channel "Science Inspires" is a fascinating story by Prof. Julian Sitarek about how to capture and study very high-energy gamma rays that can be seen sources even 7 billion light years away from Earth! The video will show us what Cherenkov light is, what the MAGIC acronym means and what tasks Prof. Sitarek does in the Canary Islands on the site of the telescopes. Scientists from the University of Lodz Faculty of Physics and Applied Informatics are involved in a huge, international research project that may contribute to the discovery of phenomena that are not yet known to modern physics. Remember to subscribe to the channel, we have many more interesting stories for you!

The second video as part of the Science Inspires channel on YouTube

Prof. Julian Sitarek from the Faculty of Physics and Applied Informatics at the University of Lodz is our expert and guide to the vastness of space.
As he says, he has always been fascinated by the possibility of recreating the world in a computer simulation. Astrophysics has provided him with this opportunity. Find out what gamma rays are, how they can help us discover "new physics" and contribute to technological development in the future.

Texts, photos, dissemination of the results of the research by scientists from the University of Lodz

Our activities include not only video productions, but also popular science texts showing research processes and their results, but also presenting the tedious, challenging and unsuccessful nature of scientific work. "Science Inspires" is also about the profiles of scientists from the University of Lodz, which focuses on the motivations for choosing the profession of a scientist and the impact of research work on the environment.

Our goal is to stimulate curiosity and interest in science, as well as to emphasize its importance for society and the development of civilisation.

All the materials can be found on the website dedicated to the project.

The production of videos as part of the "Science Inspires" project was co-financed from the budget of the City of Lodz as part of the "Academic Lodz" programme.
